From Bosnia: No Alternative to Dialogue

Ukrainian journalist Anna Klochko and Russian journalist Ivan Kljajić traveled through Bosnia-Herzegovina to see how people were living together 30 years after a civil war that included a genocide. They discovered that "reconciliation here is not abstract but a daily act — rooted in small gestures and the courage to forgive."

From Ukraine: Beacons of Hope

Social ministry is mercy in motion, journalist Anna Klochko says in this first-person account from Ukraine, where she fled from war. She tells of women making pierogis to feed wounded soldiers and offers personal witness of what it means to receive support. “Today, you may be the one offering help. Tomorrow, you may be the one who needs it. But as long as mercy keeps moving between us, the circle remains unbroken, and we do not lose each other or ourselves.”
Ukrainian parishes are stepping up to help others, as Ms. Klochko reports in Beacons of Hope, in the September issue of ONE Magazine. 

From Ethiopia: The Fallout

Many Ethiopian women travel abroad legally, thinking they will get a job as a domestic worker in a rich Persian Gulf country. But many of them also end up victims of human trafficking. Journalist Lorenzo Milne tells of his interview with a Comboni Missionary Sister who works with these women when they are returned to Ethiopia, often with few or no belongings.

From Syria: Healing Hands in the Shadows of War

Rita, a young Syrian mother of twins, has a heart condition, and she needed surgery, tests, and drugs. During Syria's 14-year civil war, Rita received help with medical bills from a network of Christian communities, in what journalist Claire Porter Robbins refers to as "a massively bright light" among stories she heard when interviewing people from Homs, Aleppo, Damascus and other areas.
